Digestive poster

This week Isy and I made a digestive system poster, we had to draw a detailed drawing of the human body that had to have all the organs in the digestive system and the purpose of each. Isy did the drawing and I did the writing.

Week 10 math contract

For this weeks math contract my class and I have one set task a day,

We have a math sheet a day, 

like for Monday the work sheet was At the movies,

Tuesdays was Visit to the theme park,

Wednesday was Trip to the aquatic center,

Thursday was Visit to the zoo,

Friday was Trip to the museum,

What a fun week, but of course those are all math work sheets.

This week on the contract me and my class had to create a some sort of
shape and put words in it related to Matariki it is called a wordle and we made
it on this website called word art.

It was quite easy for me and some other people but it was challenging for some.

On Tuesday the three classes (Tui, Kakapo, and Te-kahu) went to the cape Reinga lighthouse, at the lighthouse I saw the Pacific ocean and the Tasman sea meeting each-other at a point. when I saw the to oceans meeting the Pacific ocean was amazing and green but coming from the Pacific ocean there were waves hitting the Tasman sea like some sort of water wars

Google docs ninja challenge

Today me and my class tried the google docs ninja challenge, because we saw our buddy class' blog had done it last week (Matawai School room 4). There were 4 levels the white ninja, green ninja, red ninja, and last but not least the black ninja, the white and green ninja were a piece of cake but the red and black ninja was quite hard, but I completed them all. And I also drew this house with a lightning strike. I know its not the best in the world but I tried and had some fun too.

play comes to pompallier

On Thursday the 6th of September The NZ playhouse performed at pompallier catholic school, it was a play mixed between little red riding hood and robin hood.  In my opinion the play was funny and awesome.  Other people thought the same and other people didn't like it as much. The NZ playhouse have performed plays all around NZ and Australia.

Sandra Silberzweig

Sandra Silberzweig was born in the 1960's and raised in Toronto Canada.

We were inspired by here awesome art so my teacher decided that my class would attempt to make our own portrait based on Sandra's art.

to make the art we used Indian ink to outline the pencil,

second we colored it in with soft pastel chalk, and then we had to go over the Indian ink with more Indian ink.

Clay art

A few weeks ago me and my class made air clay sculptures to represent our family. some made kiwis, taniwhas, ferns, hearts and some other really cool designs. I made a kiwi because my whole family are New Zealanders. It got quite messy and mucky but it was fine. they dried after a few days, some of the clay art broke, my kiwis legs came off. I think my whole class enjoyed.

What I have learnt.

I have learnt ALL of my basic facts and squares/ square roots. I now know my times tables from 1 to 12, same with my divides, same with my squares and squares roots. I now know tricks for your time tables, I also know tricks for my divides. I know some strategy's. Some of the strategy's are new to me. The strategy's make math easier.

I learnt about decimals and fractions

I've learnt more about fractions, for an example the fraction two thirds is the exact same as four sixths. If you double the fraction you were using it is the exactly the same fraction. The number below the line (the denominator) is a fraction, a divisor. The number above the line (the numerator) the numerator is a fraction, showing the number of parts indicated from the denominator are taken.

I learnt more about decimals. I can understand decimals now. I can now change fractions into decimals.
